 About the Book

Fighting the OddsThis is a story of a journey of a little boy from when he was a baby to when he was four and a half years of age. It demonstrates how having a child with a difference can be both very special and at the same time, very normal.IMoreFighting the OddsThis is a story of a journey of a little boy from when he was a baby to when he was four and a half years of age. It demonstrates how having a child with a difference can be both very special and at the same time, very normal.I wrote this book to pass on helpful information, to break the boundaries of fear and ignorance that often surround issues of disability, and to hopefully, bring reassurance to the lives of all those who find themselves caring for disabled children.Fighting the Odds tells the tale of a little boy called Enrico Charles, who was born with a genetic disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. This is one of the biggest genetic killers of children under the age of two in the world. Up to 1 in 40 of the population can be a carrier. To help tell Enrico’s inspiration story, the book features many photographs chronicling my son’s short but beautiful life.Charlotte Wingfield50% of the proceeds of this book will go to The Enrico Charles Humanitarian Organisation (ECHO)
