Terence claims an inheritance in Paris and meets Hannah a journalist from Vienna and they fall in love. Sofi, in Paris, finds the book of poetry with the cover by Seamus. She admires his other work and dreams about a relationship, then returns with Terence and Hannah to Vienna to look for him. On the eve of the German occupation of Vienna, Terence completes his novel. Sofi is rescued from a riot by Seamus, and they return to the fishing village.
